RACHEL HARLAND
Soprano

Rachel has sung for various opera companies in the U.K. and Belgium including Opera La Monnaie, Opera Holland Park, Carl Rosa Opera (U.S. and Canada tour), Opera Brava and The Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company.
She has followed master classes with Graham Johnson, Pietro Rizzo, Christoph Prégardien and Ann Murray and has worked with directors including Vincent Boussard, Ronny Lauwers, John Abulafia, Olivia Fuchs and Vincent Van Den Elshout.
As a principal soprano of the Gilbert & Sullivan repertoire, roles include: Yum Yum in The Mikado - Charles Court Opera, Elsie Maynard in Yeomen of the Guard and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance - Grim's Dyke Opera, Nicemis in Thespis - Normansfield Theatre, London and Dorothy in Haddon Hall - Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company.
Rachel has also created two solo recitals for the International Gilbert and and Sullivan Festival: 'Happy Wanderings of a Savoyard' and 'Sullivan and his Contemporaries.'
An experienced solo recital singer in French and English song repertoire, Rachel has given solo recitals in Belgium at Arc in Ghent for The International Festival of Flanders, Het Pand, De Handelsbeurs, De Spil - Roeselaere, Flanders Opera Studio and Abdij Kortenberg. She has also given numerous recitals in the U.K. and Melbourne, Australia but is at her happiest when she is singing on a cruise, which she has been lucky enough to do on the Danube, Rhine, Douro and Nile.
Rachel is passionate about vocal education and has over 20 years teaching experience including in prisons, music conservatoires, schools and cruise ships including for Aldeburgh Music, Music in Prisons, Manchester International Festival, Theatrical Adventures cruises, Agalin Music Camp, Thailand and the Royal Conservatoire of Music in Antwerp.
She is currently a singing teacher at Liverpool University and English coach and singing teacher to repetiteurs at The International Opera Academy in Ghent.
